Pickering Naturalists: Long Point Area Birding

 

Meet at the Pickering GO station (Bayly and Liverpool) and drive to the Long Point area. (map)

The trip may coincide with large number of Tundra Swans that stop over in the Long Point area on their migration to the Arctic. It is a magnificent sight. We should also be able to see migrant Sandhill Cranes and wintering Rough-legged Hawks and Bald Eagles. Depending on the weather patterns, we may see some early migrants like Horned Larks and Killdeer. Although most of the trip will be in the comfort of our vehicles, dress warmly for the times that we are outside. We will probably stop at a local restaurant for lunch but you can bring your own if you prefer. Location: Meet at the Pickering GO station (Bayly and Liverpool) and drive to the Long Point area.
