Tales by a Winter Fire

Campbellville, ON (Mountsberg Wildlife Centre) (map)

When you think of winter in the country do you imagine the sound of the snow groaning under the runners of a horse-drawn sleigh, or sharing stories around the warmth and crackle of an outdoor bonfire, or perhaps, rosy cheeks after the excitement of a night hike on a snowy trail? Experience all this and more at the ‘Tales by a Winter’s Fire’ program, our theme this year is Winter Survival. On your wagon ride we will travel through the swamp to discover what our amphibian friends do during our cold winter months. The hike will have a look at mammals and how they have adapted to our freezing temperatures, and our Birds of Prey will demonstrate how some species have adapted especially well to winter, while others have trouble - even to the point of packing up and moving south for the winter (otherwise known as migrating). Now our evening would not be complete without the chance to roast a marshmallow and listen to some stories around the campfire. Come and join us for an interesting fun filled evening packed with survival techniques for all. Cost: Adults $15 Children $10 Pre-registration required, as space is limited.
