
The holidays are just about over, and it's time to think about disposing of the carefully decorated tree in your livingroom. Not sure how to recycle your tree? Here are some of the tree collection schedules and a few tips for residents of the GTA:
Durham Region
In the Town of Ajax, Municipality of Clarington, City of Pickering, and the townships of Brock, Scugog, and Uxbridge you can have your tree picked up with your regular collection during the weeks of
Ajax and Pickering - Jan 6 to Jan 16, 2009
Clarington - Jan 6 to Jan 9, 2009
Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge on either Jan 5, 2009 or Jan 12, 2009
For residents of Oshawa, you may need to check your local calendar for information on whether you will be receiving Christmas tree collection.
What you Need to Do: Remove all decorations, wire, tinsel and plastic bags before placing trees at the curb

Peel Region
In Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga you can place your tree out on your regular collection day during the week of January 12th, 2009.
If you miss having your tree picked up, you can drop it off at one of the Community Recycling Centres for a minimum fee of $2.
What you Need to Do: Remove all tinsel, ornaments, plastic bags and tree stands. Make sure the tree is not buried in a snow bank, as buried trees may not be picked up.

Toronto
Christmas trees will be collected on your regular collection days in the first 3 weeks of January.
What you Need to Do: Tree bags, tinsel, ornaments, nails, tree skirts, stands, etc., must be removed before placing the tree at the curb. The City will not collect Christmas trees set out in plastic bags or tree bags. Trees should be clear of snow and ice and easily accessible for collection.

York Region
According to the YorkRegion.com newspaper,
Richmond Hill residents will have trees picked up if they are at the curb no later than 7am on Jan 14th.
Markham trees will be collected on regular collection days between Jan 7th to 18th.
Vaughan tree collection will be during the weeks of Jan 8th to 15th on regular green bin days
Aurora trees will be picked up on one day only - Jan 19th
What you Need to Do: Remove all decorations, plastic, stands and tinsel from the tree.
