Winding Lane Bird Sanctuary

Ms. Inman-Emery took over the Winding Lane Bird Sanctuary in Mississauga after the death of ornithologist Roy Ivor. In September, after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, the property went up for sale, with an asking price of $1.5 million.

The city of Mississauga apparently put in an offer to buy the the site, in order to save it from development. Read more about how you can support saving the land.

More recently, the Toronto Wildlife Centre is considering the land for it's animal rescue facillity. The Wildlife Centre near the Toronto Zoo is now "too close to housing" and other development.

According to the Toronto Star, the other Winding Lane Bird Sanctuary lands that were for sale were bought by a developer and donated to the city.
