It's official - the Green Party will be included in the election debates on Oct 1st and Oct 2nd, according to the CBC website.
After much public outcry after the news that Green Party leader Elizabeth May would not be permitted to participate in the televised debates, the media consortium has decided that she will, indeed be invited.
Although the Green Party is currently polling near 10%, and has one sitting Green Party MP, the party was not invited to the debates. Apparently, the Conservatives and NDP were less than enthusiastic about Ms. May being included.
This will allow Canadians to hear what the Greens have to say, and decide whether what the party has to say is what Canadians are are looking for.
After all this "we-will-boycott-no-wait-we-wont" runaround, as former editor-in-chief of CBC News, Tony Burman suggested, it may be time that Canada needs a commission to look into how the debates are organized.
