By now you've almost certainly heard of CBC's new initiative, "One Million Acts of Green" - you may also have watched the Hour and heard about it there as well.
To some, the movement may seem similar to a snazzy advertising campaign. However, it's really quite a bit more than that.
The idea of the campaign is that if many people make one small change, the culmulative effect could be huge. It's an idea similar to what we're trying to do here on GreenGTA, so we're really excited about the project.
A central part of the campaign is the website, where everyone's "Act of Green" is recorded. It's pretty easy to record your Green Act, just sign up for an account, and click on what you have done, are doing, or are going to do soon. The website counts everyone's green acts, and shows you the amount of greenhouse gasses that we have all collectively saved.
Overall, this is a great idea, and it's fantastic to see an organization with the size and scope as the CBC take the lead on an initiative like this. Recording your act of green could be a great way to stay motivated.
You can sign up and record your "Act of Green" at the website here:
You can also create your own projects, chat with other people, connect with friends, and write short blog posts.
Check out this video by George Stroumboulopoulos talking about the site:
"One Million Acts of Green" is similar to TVO's getinvolved.ca which launched last week. We can't help but wonder at this point what the other networks have up their sleeves. ;)
